Living Room - Retro & New Mid-Century Modern Living Room

All Heywood-Wakefield seating groups feature solid hardwood construction. The Madeline and Margaret series utilize traditional 8-way hand-tied coil springs, and the seating cushions of the Biscayne series contain an inner-spring "Marshall unit", for additional comfort and durability. We do not use sinuous or "no-sag" springs in any of our products.

The three styles are significantly different from each other. The Biscayne Group (originally called "Aristocraft") has a solid-birch frame and individual removable cushions. The Madeline is a channeled series with "tight seat" and "tight back" (the backs and seats are not removable) built over an 8-way hand-tied inner-spring construction on a solid birch frame. The Margaret is built the same way as the Madeline, but has removable inner-spring seat cushions and a plusher feel.

We have made an effort to provide an array of desirable upholstery fabrics that reference the period of the styles without being overly trendy or "camp", however you are free to specify or supply any fabric of your own choosing at no extra charge. This is known as "C.O.M." - Customers Own Material. The prices of each model do not include the fabric itself (there are thousands on the market at widely-varying price points), but they do include all cutting, sewing and final construction of your davenport, sofa, love seat or club chair.

In some cases, custom sizing is available. Although the web site does not have pictures at this time, each style is available in a Love Seat, which average 50 to 54 inches in length. Due to its unique "channeled" construction, the Madeline series has further custom sizing possibilities.
